How it's verified

Two layers

Every one of Texas's 254 counties routes to its official crisis line, food bank, area agency on aging, and legal aid. On top of that, individually verified direct-service providers are listed for Greater Houston and the major metros, built to the same standard.

Labeled by type. "Direct service" is an individually verified provider. "Regional authority" and "Official locator" are the official routing hub or search tool for a county, credible everywhere without overstating local availability.

How each record is verified

Checked against official sources. Each record is verified against the organization's own public information (phone, address, hours, eligibility), with the source and date recorded.

Honest about limits. Details that change often (pantry hours, waitlists, shelter beds) are flagged "confirm by phone" rather than presented as certain. Nothing is guessed.

Re-checked on a schedule. Every record shows the date it was last verified against an official source. Each record is assigned its own re-verification interval, every 30, 60, or 90 days, depending on how quickly its details tend to change, and that interval is shown on the record. Of the 282 records listed, 35 are on a 30-day cycle, 21 on a 60-day cycle, and 226 on a 90-day cycle.

Human in the loop. Technology helps gather and cross-check at scale, but a person verifies and decides every record. It never invents a phone number, hour, or eligibility rule, and never touches client information.
